Lori Holt Pfeiler
Community Commitment and Leadership:

Mayor Lori Holt Pfeiler has demonstrated true leadership and commitment to community service over her 25 years of community involvement and, most notably, during the last 17+ years of service to the City of Escondido. She was elected to the City Council in 1992 and again in 1996 and subsequently elected Mayor in 1998. She has been widely praised for bringing a sense of cooperation and a focus on economic development and quality of life while simultaneously solving problems on the local level.

Mayor Pfeiler has earned regional respect as an experienced leader on issues including Transportation and Housing. She currently serves as the Chair of SANDAG.

Mayor Pfeiler has earned a BA in Accounting and an MBA. She and her husband Tim have been married for over 30 years and have a daughter – Lindsey, 23. Pfeiler and her family are active members of First Congregational Church in Escondido.

Her current and past contributions in the region give focus to the idea that governance is meaningful and fulfilling work.

Long term commitment to the Object of Rotary:

Lori has been a member of the Escondido East Rotary Club for 16 years. She joined the Club following in her father’s footsteps, as Lloyd Holt is a Charter Member of the Club. She enthusiastically helps with various Club projects and activities. One of the most rewarding activities Lori was involved with was as Chair and Facilitator of RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards). The students were grateful for Lori’s leadership and the chance to learn more about themselves and their capabilities than they ever had before. They felt more prepared to meet life head on because of the experience. Lori believes RYLA is a very important program of Rotary. It is our responsibility to help train those that will follow us.

Please join with the Rotary Club of Escondido in celebrating this citizen and Rotarian on February 28, 2010.
